A tub that leaks only when someone is in it is the classic. It is usually the overflow gasket — and it is usually showing up as a stain on the ceiling below.
Tub leaks are diagnostic problems more than plumbing problems. Water escaping at the overflow, the waste connection, the valve, or through failed sealant around the tub edge all ends up in the same place — the ceiling below — and each one needs a completely different repair.
We test them separately: fill and hold, drain, run the filler, run the shower, and seal-test the perimeter. That takes a bit longer than guessing and it means the ceiling only gets opened once, if at all.
Most calls turn up something else worth looking at. Here is what else we handle.
We find the real source before the drywall comes down.
